Meal planning, food prep & weight loss through the busy
I am a 40-year-old wife and mom who lives in the Pacific Northwest with my husband and 2 young children. My husband and I both work full time. I have all the demands that come along with a family and a full-time job including sports, sickness and sorting socks when I'm not designing offices at work.
I knew when I first started to lose weight that I wanted to meet my health goals in a way that was sustainable. I wanted to overhaul what and how we were eating and to incorporate movement slowly and for the long haul. I believe you can’t restrict your way to having a healthy relationship with food and I had to do it all "through my busy."
I started meal prepping in January 2018 just to kick start the year. After a few weeks, I was seeing results: I was losing weight, saving money, spending less time thinking about weight loss and was finding more pockets of time to fit in exercise and time with my family. I was also still eating food every day that I was genuinely excited about!
Portion control has been key in my weight loss. I listen to my body and cook everything from carbs to crockpot to keto to vegan. I don't discriminate against any delicious, healthy food and I still sometimes plan a piece of cake!
Brené Brown says, "Vulnerability sounds like truth and feels like courage. Truth and courage aren't always comfortable, but they're never weakness." Those words encouraged me to step into the arena and share my story and success with others.
